acoustic performance
As developments are increasingly being undertaken in brown field sites close to roads and rail and airports. Consequently demands are placed on the window solutions to achieve more stringent acoustic performance than ever before. The Beaufort window range has been extensively tested and in a twin primary format achieved 59Db. Conventional windows can achieve 42Db depending on unit specification.
Acoustic windows can be manufactured to almost any size and shape and are readily incorporated both in modular structures and in buildings of conventional construction. Various window designs are available to suit both the acoustic demands and physical constraints of most applications.
These can be of either triple or double glazed design. Care, however, needs to be taken in determining which will afford the optimum sound transmission loss, as double glazing can afford very favourable levels of attenuation.
Available in single, double and triple glazed versions, acoustic windows have been used to contain or exclude sound from motorways, railways and airports
