thermal performance

The two main methods of assessing thermal performance are either energy ratings or U value assessment.

In the dwelling application, energy ratings are of particular benefit because they allow solar gain (heat transfer into the room from outside) this enables rooms to be warmer in the colder time of the year, whilst retaining heat in the building.

In commercial non-dwellings the ‘U’ value is the most beneficial method because solar gain would cause the building to heat up and therefore require air conditioning to maintain a comfortable working environment

The Beaufort range can achieve an A rating in the BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council) assessment. It is also capable of achieving a 1.3w/m² U value. In both cases these were possible using a double glazed unit

The precise performance will depend on the combination of frame configuration, frame sizes, glazing area and glazing thickness. The Beaufort range has also undergone hot-box testing in accordance with BS EN ISO 12567-1. These tests were carried out at a UCAS accredited test laboratory. Beaufort is also approved by the British Fenestration Ratings Council to conduct thermal simulations.
